Our  NC 4-axis heavy-duty Slotting Machines are the result of ongoing improvement and technological development. 
The CAMS models 500E, 500EA(850) and 850 incorporate a truly  innovative feature -  NC control on ram axis Z.
By providing NC control on the machining axis offers the following production advantages and benefits:
  • drastic reduction in tooling times and machine setup;
  • improved machining performance, thanks to the Brushless motor and Servo-drive which ensure a constant  torque throughout machining from start to finish.
  • uniform machining  compared to traditional Slotting Machines (piston driven ram) resulting in  reduced  tool consumption and wear.

MACHINE STRUCTURE: 
manufactured from electric arc welded sheet metal of robust thickness, adequately ribbed and heat treated for internal stress relieving. 
 
HEAD and RAM: G30 quality grade cast-iron.  Ram guides are induction tempered and ground.  The travelways on the head are coated with an anti-friction material (PTFE), ground and scraped.  The alternating ram motion is driven by a Brushless motor, reduction gear unit and crank assembly, over dimensioned to ensure and guarantee improved longevity for heavy-duty production requirements.  Travel (stroke) is easily adjusted from the computer unit resulting in a significant reduction in tool zeroing times.

LUBRICATION: Automatic grease pumps interfaced with the computer lubricate travelways on the table, head and rack and pinion system.  When the oil level drops below the minimum level machining stops automatically and an alarm prompt is activated.

COOLING SYSTEM:  closed circuit system driven by a centrifugal electro-pump and a pull-out and removable swarf collection tray is positioned below the table for easy access.

TURNTABLE (axis A):  quality grade cast-iron with wide central through hole designed for machining long shafts.
Travel guides on the table and support are coated with an anti-friction material (PTFE), ground and scraped.  Table rotation is driven by a worm screw-sprocket assembly (the worm screw is steel quality 18 NCM 5 hardened and ground and the sprocket is  bronze quality B14) which incorporates a micrometric backlash recovery system.   Maintenance free  support guide thanks to the automatic greasing system.

Ram Axis (Z): the drive system consists of a brushless motor keyed to a reduction gear unit resulting in an intermediate reduction on the central shaft (consisting of a pair of ground helical gears with backlash recovery) and rack and pinion system purposely dimensioned to support heavy-duty production cycles. 
Longitudinal (Y) and horizontal AXES (X):  the table moves on an enclosed ground recirculating ball screw assembly.

ELECTRICS:  Each axis is driven by a brushless motor and servo-drive with NC control. The NC control system allows easy machine programming including machining  complex workpieces.  Electrics and wiring conform to the stringent safety directives and standards.
